Helping you achieve better function and health

Samuel Christensson
Naprapath and personal trainer

I grew up outside Åre in Sweden. After culinary high school, I combined seasonal work with a professional career in snowboarding and traveled the world with the sport.

Early in life, I discovered that I feel my best when I'm helping others. This, combined with a growing interest in the body and health, led me to the Scandinavian College of Naprapathic Manual Medicine in Stockholm, as I was seeking the best possible education as a foundation for my future practice.

I graduated in 2016 with distinction for the highest exam results in both medicine and naprapathy. I also received an award for the best thesis. Since then, I have worked both as a consultant and run my own clinics in Bergen and Voss. For the past two years, I have specialized in the neurophysiological effects of joint adjustments at an advanced level and continuously take courses with the leading experts in the field in the USA and Europe. With 10 years of professional experience, I’ve found that the most important thing is to truly listen to and see the whole patient.

BEHANDLING

Treating the cause

I treat most function related conditions involving the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems.

This is done using safe and effective advanced manual techniques — such as joint adjustments, dry needling, and connective tissue therapy.

We’ll begin with a conversation focused on identifying the causes of your issue and understanding your goals for treatment. Then we’ll carry out a comprehensive examination to determine whether the root of the problem comes from the muscles, joints, and nervous system. If your condition is outside my scope of practice, I will refer you to the appropriate specialist.

Based on the results of the examination, we will create a tailored treatment plan designed to help you reach your goals.

Treatments are usually performed with your clothes on — flexible pants or tights and a t-shirt are recommended.

Some soreness may be experienced during the first 24 hours after the first treatments. This is a normal and positive reaction indicating that the body is responding to treatment.

“I’ve had polio paralysis in both legs and have lasting effects that require treatment once a year. I received treatment from Samuel last spring, and he got me back on my feet again.

Samuel also treated my wife — from her feet to her neck — with the result that she can now move freely and do what she wants without any issues.

We can highly recommend the treatment Samuel provides.”

NAPRAPATI

Naprapathy

A naprapath is an expert in the examination, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of pain and dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system: muscles, connective tissue, joints, and the nervous system. Naprapathy offers a well-balanced combination of muscle and joint treatment along with therapeutic exercise — all in one place!

The word naprapathy means “to correct the cause of suffering,” and this is a core principle of naprapaths: addressing the root causes of symptoms and discomfort. A naprapath seeks a holistic understanding of a patient’s issues, taking into account physical, psychological, and social factors that may contribute to pain and dysfunction.

A naprapath holds a 4-year university-level education and has been recognized as a licensed healthcare professional in Sweden and Finland since 1994. In 2020, the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget) also granted authorization to naprapaths in Norway. Today, naprapaths represent the largest group within advanced manual medicine in the Nordic countries (compared to osteopaths, chiropractors, and manual therapists), with around 2,100 practicing naprapaths. In Norway, there are over 400 active practitioners.
